Leg Up for Ag Program
Are you a young individual looking for a leg up into study and a career in Australian agriculture?

The Leg Up for Ag program will be delivered alongside your chosen study. It will be tailored to suit your field of interest and we do not stipulate where you need to study.
​
We want to prepare people for the ‘real world’ and provide the support required to establish a meaningful career in Australian agriculture. Through financial support, paid work placements, a graduate program and mentoring, you will have what it takes to succeed.

About the program?
Funding
AU$5,000 total available funding, $2500 in your first year and $5000 final year of studying an approved tertiary degree or program. Funding is subject to your attendance and progress of study. If you join the program in your final year of study, you will be eligible for $2500.

Funding can be used for course fees, related costs and accommodation.
Paid work placements and Graduate Program
Paid work placements during holidays and a tailored learning program to provide real-world experience in a leading family-owned farming businesses.
​
Structured learning and skills development.
​
Upon completion of study, you may be offered a graduate program to provide a pathway to employment within the business or industry.
Support and mentoring
We will provide the support, mentoring and network to help you get into a meaningful career in Australian agriculture.

We will provide exposure to leaders in the industry to learn about the following:

Intensive livestock production

Dual-purpose cropping

Commercial sheep and wool

Dryland broadacre farming

Irrigated farming

Farm management and innovation
Eligibility Criteria
-
Be aged between 18-35 years at the application close date
-
Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident living in Australia

Must be enrolled in or intending to enroll in Tertiary Studies or open studies that are aligned to the sponsors’ industry in an approved course before February 2024

Must show genuine interest and commitment to pursuing a career in agriculture or agribusiness

Ability to complete work placements during holidays and graduate programs
Application Process

Prepare a video submission of between 2 to 3 minutes outlining your passion for Australian agriculture, the impact you want to make during your career and how this program could help you.

Prepare a 1-page Cover Letter and 1-page Resume detailing your application, studies to date, co-curricular activities and anything else you would like to tell us about yourself and your goals. The Cover Letter and Resume must be submitted for your application to be considered.

The Leg Up for Ag Program is proudly sponsored by family-owned farming business, Boridgeree Farming Pty Ltd. The Blomfield family and team operate approximately 2,400 hectares across central west New South Wales. We run a range of enterprises including sheep, cattle, prime lucerne, irrigation and dryland cropping using the latest technology and management practices.

Meet the People
Charlie Blomfield
Co-owner, Boridgeree Farming Pty Ltd
Charlie drives the strategic direction and operations of Borigeree Farming with a mixed farming operation of 15,000 DSE and 1,000 Ha of farming and irrigation. Charlie has worked throughout the world in agriculture and has a Bachelor of Agriculture Science UQ and Graduate Certificate of Finance from KAPLAN.
Eleanor Falkiner
Co-owner, Boridgeree Farming Pty Ltd
Director, Haddon Rig Pty Ltd
El has a strong mix of skills from stakeholder engagement, corporate agriculture and strategy having worked in government and private sectors. El helps drive the strategy of Boridgeree and sits on the Board of Haddon Rig, and Regional Development Australia (Central West NSW). El has a Bachelor of International Studies and Stakeholder Relations.
